“We talk of heaven, we think everything is going to be white. But I believe we’re going to have the beautiful rainbow colors.” – Minnie Evans
Wilmington Symphony Orchestra celebrates Minnie Evan’s 129th Birthday! Chamber ensembles will perform music inspired by her art. Many of her works were inspired by the plants at Arlie Gardens and her compositions were mostly abstractions blending nature with the face of God. Her work is known for highly charged color and meticulous symmetry and is often compared to Buddhist mandala paintings.
The WSO has commissioned local composer, and former WSYO student, Algernon (AJ) Robinson, to compose a quartet piece honoring Minnie Evan’s art.
The Cameron Art Museum will display the artwork that inspired the musical selections being played at this very special event.
Tickets: $10 for adults, free for children 17 years and younger.
All concerts are at 2:00 pm.
