Join Brian Evans Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 20 – 22, 2025 (10am-4pm) as he teaches participants how to alter thrown forms on the wheel. Altering techniques include pinching, spiraling, pillowing, ribbing, and more. Participants should have a minimum of intermediate throwing skills. Intermediate skills include centering, throwing cylinders, bowls, and vases. If you struggle with these forms, this workshop may not be for you.
This workshop will teach you to break free from the round form. It will help build your confidence in experimentation. It is difficult for many potters to go beyond the round form because they are afraid to ruin a “perfect pot.” Instead, we will embrace the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi (Beauty in Imperfection).
