MUMMENSCHANZ has enchanted audiences worldwide with its poetic non-verbal performances for half a century. The group performed for three years on Broadway, and appeared in numerous media – including music videos and television. They appeared on “The Muppet Show,” “Sesame Street,” “3-2-1 Contact,” and “Northern Exposure.”
Founded in Paris in 1972 by Bernie Schürch, Andres Bossard and Floriana Frassetto, the group now consists of seven performers who appear on stage in different combinations, with Frassetto also serving as the artistic director. To honor their contribution to arts and culture, Swiss Post recently released a special Mummenschanz stamp, which celebrates two of the groups most iconic characters. Mummenschanz is one of the few Swiss artists or groups to be so honored.
